2019 MLB Offseason Breakdown: Milwaukee Brewers

Here is my MLB 2019 Offseason Breakdown Blog. This time it is on the Milwaukee Brewers and I will talk about who the Brewers acquired and lost, their starting lineup and pitching rotation and my prediction for them this season. Let’s get into the blog.

Offseason Acquisitions and Loses:
Yasmani Grandal signs a 1 year $18 million contract

This was not a good signing for the Brewers. Grandal got way too much money for a guy who only hit .241 last season. He did hit 24 home runs last season which is nice, but I still think he got overpaid when players like Wilson Ramos and Kurt Suzuki were able to be signed and J.T. Realmuto was on the trade market.
Mike Moustakas resigns with a 1 year $10 million contract
Good for the Brewers to bring back Moustakas who is a very good player to have. All around good player on offense and defense, Moustakas hit .251 with 28 home runs and 95 RBI’s last season

Starting Lineup:
C: Yasmani Grandal
1B: Jesus Aguilar
2B: Mike Moustakas
3B: Travis Shaw
SS: Orlando Arcia
LF: Ryan Braun
CF: Lorenzo Cain
RF: Christian Yelich

Starting Rotation:
1. Jhoulys Chacin
2. Chase Anderson
3. Zach Davies
4. Jimmy Nelson
5. Brandon Woodruff

Offseason Grade: B

The Brewers were so close to making the World Series last and I think that’s as close as they will get, at least for this year. The Brewers are a good team but have a major hole at starting pitching. Like former Cy Young winner, Dallas Khuechal is still a free agent. Sign him for a year maybe and that could be huge. But as of now, the Brewers are going to win the NL Central, but I don’t see them making it past the first round.
